オーストラリアから広島の姉妹校へ訪れた中高生14名。
およそ1週間の日程では、姉妹校の授業への参加、着物体験、ホストファミリーとの時間、宮島散策、茶道・書道体験など日本文化を体験する内容が盛りだくさんなプログラムの中に、平和学習の日も設定してあり、平和公園のツアーをPCVが担当しました。
とても元気いっぱいな中高生でツアー中も質問が飛び交い、ピースバディとの対話も弾んで、すごく濃い時間をすごすことができました。
担当教員の先生から、「ツアーが終わって学校に帰ったあとも、ツアーについての話題が飛び交っています。本当に生徒の心に残るツアーをありがとう！」という言葉をいただきました。
およそ1時間半のPEACE DIALOGUEのプログラムですが、こうやって生徒の中に残り続ける機会を創ることができるこの仕事をとても誇りに思います。
オーストラリアから日本を訪れてくれてありがとうございました！
Fourteen junior and senior high school students from Australia visited their sister school in Hiroshima. During the week-long program, they participated in classes at the sister school, tried on kimonos, spent time with host families, strolled around Miyajima, experienced tea ceremony and calligraphy, and had many other cultural experiences.
The enthusiastic group asked a lot of questions during the tour we provided and had a lot of fun talking with their Peace Buddies.
The teacher in charge of the students later wrote me, “After the tour was over and they were back at school, they couldn’t stop talking about the tour. They will never forget it and we are so grateful to you.”
PEACE DIALOGUE program lasted only an hour and a half, but we are so gratified that our work creates experiences that will continue to move the hearts of students over time.
